What to Expect

Service Experience

Our Sunday morning worship is a relaxed, blended type service, combining traditional and alternative styles. People of all faiths are welcome to worship. Services begin with an informal time of sharing, announcements and welcoming guests and visitors.

We have a very active music program. Two choirs provide inspirational music for regular worship services.

Communion is served on the first and third Sundays of each month and on other special days during the church year. Communion is open to believers of all ages. The communion service is performed by the Elders of the church on most Sundays. Once a quarter the service is conducted by the pastor in the Presbyterian tradition.

What to Wear

We want our members to be comfortable when they come to First Church United. You will see our members in jeans and t-shirts, but also wearing dresses and khakis with a polo shirt. We welcome everyone with open arms no matter how they are dressed.

What About My Kids

We encourage parents to bring their kids to worship. It provides a great experience for the kids, so they can grow strong in their faith from a small age. We provide Sunday School during a portion of the worship service (during the school year), so the kids can enjoy activities while learning about the gospel. A nursery room, for smaller children who may need an outlet, is available and often staffed by one of our teen helpers.

I Am New

It can be daunting to come to a church for the first time or two, especially when you don’t know anyone. Because our congregation is composed of people from all faiths, you will find almost anyone in the building is happy to answer any questions, and show you around the church.
